A Colorful Surprise: The Edwards' In-Home Gender Reveal

I’ve had the joy of photographing the Edwards family a few times this past year, so when they reached out about doing a creative in home photo shoot to announce the gender of their second child, I was all in. As a family photographer, getting to witness milestones like this—again and again—is such an honor.

This particular family photo shoot was extra special because the Edwards were right in the middle of decorating the nursery. Instead of opting for balloons or cake, they decided to reveal the news by painting directly on the nursery walls. And what better way to make a memory than with a little mess and a lot of color?

We handed out paintbrushes, got the camera ready, and let the fun unfold. Their daughter, Charlie, didn’t care much about the surprise—she was just thrilled to have permission to paint on the walls! But when we popped the top on that blue paint, the room filled with gasps and laughter. It’s a boy! The look of pure joy and shock on their faces was everything.

As a gender reveal photographer, these are the moments that make my job magical. The love, the laughter, and the completely unexpected reactions—every second was worth capturing.
