A Stockyards Love Story: The Billings-Jordan Wedding at Hotel Drover

There’s something magical about a wedding that perfectly reflects a couple’s personality—and Olivia and Doug’s celebration at Hotel Drover in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards was just that. As a Fort Worth Photographer, I’m always thrilled when a couple wants their day to feel genuine, fun, and true to them. From their easygoing vibe to their unique portrait session, everything about this wedding was unforgettable.

Olivia and Doug met at work and quickly discovered a shared love for adventure (and each other!). Their goal for the day was clear: keep it light, keep it fun, and make space to truly enjoy their people. That’s exactly what we did. They chose a documentary-style approach to their wedding photos, which allowed me to capture real, candid moments throughout their big day without pulling them away from their friends and family.

One of the coolest parts of this wedding? We scheduled their wedding portraits on a completely different day. That meant no rushing or squeezing photos between the ceremony and reception. Instead, we met at sunrise in the Stockyards for a relaxed, intentional shoot. The neon signs were still glowing, the streets were empty, and the whole area had this romantic, almost cinematic energy. We started with traditional wedding portraits in their full attire and then they changed into rodeo wear—boots, hats, and all—for a second round of portraits that felt straight out of a modern western fairytale.

If you're looking for a DFW Photographer or Wedding Photographer who’s flexible, creative, and down to explore fun ideas like sunrise shoots and two-part portrait sessions, I’d love to chat. Olivia and Doug’s wedding is a reminder that your day can be anything you want it to be—and your wedding photos should tell that story.

Congratulations, Olivia and Doug! Your wedding was a blast to capture, and I’m so thankful I got to be part of it.
